We are writing to bring your attention to the recent changes in tobacco laws in California, specifically the passing of SB793 on August 28th, 2020. This bills passage will result in a statewide ban on the sale of flavored tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, vapor products whether or not they contain nicotine, cigars, and smokeless tobacco with flavors other than tobacco as of January 1st 2021.
The ban aims to decrease the allure of flavored tobacco products to youth, who are believed to be more vulnerable to nicotine dependence. The law is also purported to safeguard public health by restricting access to flavored tobacco products, some of which have been shown to be dangerous to users while others, such as e-cigarettes, have not been conclusively proven harmful.
At Desert Vapors, we are dedicated to offering our customers products that are both safe and in compliance with all regulations. In response to the passing of SB793, we have made the necessary adjustments to ensure we are in compliance with the new statewide ban on the sale of flavored tobacco products. Our product line, available from January 1st, 2021, will include only tobacco-flavored products which are exempt from the ban.
We understand that this change may be difficult for some of our customers, but we are here to support you through the transition. If you have any questions or concerns, our team is always available to assist you. We are also keeping an eye on the potential for a referendum campaign to be launched in 2022 to take this issue to the voters, but as of now, it remains uncertain.
